The problem we faced when our first
child was born was how to raise her
as a bilingual child. We were living
in Germany with the English-speaking
father working away from home for
five days a week and his only
contact with his child was during
the weekends.
Unlike most traditional bilingual
households, this meant that our
child’s exposure to English would
not be enough to promote
bilingualism.
This situation, coupled with our own
personal experience of the
difficulty in learning a second
language, gave us the burning
motivation to create a system or way
that would allow our child to learn
English despite the father’s
absence.
We wanted a system that would be
easier, effective and fun for our
children (and subsequently all
children) to learn English. Having
researched all existing methods we
found nothing suitable. This was why
we developed the
Language
Location Method (LLM). |
